Although Makro is an American citizen, she is a descendant of one of the Nail's original members; an elite group of women assassins employed by the Hand, and her codename refers to the Japanese giant spider-crab Macrocheira Kaempferi. Experimented on in an undisclosed laboratory, she was offered a place on Daredevil (Matthew Murdock)'s incarnation of the Nail and her first taste of freedom in years. Makro was an obedient soldier, remaining loyal to her sisters even after group leader, Colleen Wing, betrayed them to save a friend's life. Makro stayed behind in Daredevil's Shadowland fortress with Yuki and Black Lotus after Colleen abandoned them, taking their last member, Cherry Blossom, with her.
