Biography

Biography

Created by a mad scientist using alien technology, Miraclewoman possesses miraculous powers that eventually lead her to effectively become Earth’s new Aphrodite.

Orphan to God

At the age of 14, the Air Force orphan who would become known as Avril Lear is kidnapped by Dr. Emil Gargunza and taken to a secret lab in 1955. There, Gargunza uses technology from a crash-landed spacecraft from the Qys race to transform Lear into Miraclewoman, and endows her with superhuman powers, akin to a god. Gargunza performs a similar experiment in the government-backed Project Zarathustra where he creates the Miracleman Family using three male orphans, but for a time keeps them separate from Miraclewoman. Lear is kept in a  secret lab in a dreamstate known as infra-space with a hideous altered dog, Miracledog, and Terrence Rebbeck, AKA Young Nastyman, another Air Force orphan turned superhuman.

While in infra-space as Miraclewoman, Gargunza uses her body how he wishes. Meanwhile, Gargunza inputs all manner of hideous situations into the dreamstate for Miraclewoman to face as he studies her reactions. However, all the villainous things that Gargunza makes Young Nastyman do causes Rebbeck to lose his mind and eventually escape the mind-prison. Gargunza forces Miraclewoman to join the Miracleman Family to hunt Rebbeck down and with an ulterior motive of creating a breeding program by introducing a woman to the trio of supermen, hoping for super-nature to take its course. Though Young Miracleman grows jealous of Miraclewoman and suggests that they separate. Alone again, Miraclewoman follows faded aura-traces to a the bunker where she was created and learns the truth of her origin as an orphan as well as how Gargunza used and raped her. She finally tracks down Rebbeck near an Icelandic volcano, and sharing the truth of their collective origins, she tries to help him but he is unreachable. He attacks her and in their battle, they are propelled into the volcano where Rebbeck perishes. The volcano bursts in response and leaves Miraclewoman alone. Meanwhile, the Miracleman Family is seen as a threat by the government and takes them out with an atomic bomb. Gargunza retreats into hiding.

Miraclewoman returns home where she becomes Avril Lear, changing her name as a precaution. She trains as a doctor to help women in need and uses the surname McCarthy.

Miraculous Feats

Miraclewoman possesses superhuman strength, durability, speed, stamina and senses. She can also fly, create force fields and discharge energy blasts. She also possesses some telepathy and telekinesis, and has a genius intellect.

Foes in Intra-Space and Out

Miraclewoman’s creator, Dr. Emil Gargunza, is also her foe. She learns that while he kept her in a dreamstate, studying her reactions in a computer-generated fantasy, he rapes her body in the real world.

Her foremost foe as Miraclewoman is Young Nastyman, a Super Villain in intra-space who is manipulated by Gargunza into being her enemy. Their manufactured conflicts come to a head when Young Nastyman loses his mind entirely and Miraclewoman is forced to slay him to stop him from hurting anyone in the real world, but not before she tries to help him.

Familial Ties

Miraclewoman allies with her fellow orphan-turned-superhumans, the Miracleman Family, which includes three members: Mike Moran, AKA Miracleman, Johnny Bates, AKA Kid Miracleman, and Dicky Dauntless, AKA Young Miracleman. Though when Kid Miracleman becomes corrupt, she faces his wrath alongside allies Huey Moon and Miracleman.

She becomes consort to Miracleman when they create a new Pantheon of gods and change the world with herself as a modern Aphrodite.

A Miraclewoman’s Herstory

When Miracleman re-emerged and clashed with Kid Miracleman, who haed both survived the government’s attack, Miraclewoman laid low. Though the Qys found out her location, exposing her true name while she was working at her doctor’s office. She escaped before they could capture her. She followed Miracelman’s aura and her intuitions to his house where his wife Liz was under attack by one of the Qys. Miraclewoman saved Liz from them, knocking the Qys out. Miracleman appeared with another Qys who had claimed their reasons for the attack had changed, and attempted to restore their fallen comrade. Miraclewoman informed Miracleman and Liz of her similar origin story and as she finished, the Qys were ready to depart, eager to get their comrade medical assistance. The Qys called upon their enemies, the hyper-fast, teleporting Warpsmiths, for help and insisted on Miraclewoman and Miracleman joining them. The Warpsmiths transported away in front of Liz’s eyes.

Miraclewoman and the group arrived on Qys, home to the race of the same name and located in Underspace, where an emergency summit was called and included the Warpsmiths. The summit was led by the KingQueen, a sublime creature referred to as Hir. The Qys representative presented Miraclewoman and Miracleman, and shared news of his superhuman-hybrid child that made Earth an Intelligent-class World and as such meant it had a right by their laws to exist. Though the Warpsmiths worried about the existing Qys influence over Earth, Miraclewoman suggested that the two races copulate as a way to solve their problems, and the two races agreed to consider using Earth as a neutral place for their courtship. Miraclewoman asked many questions of their escort, the Qys representative, and they all ultimately came to an agreement that the superhumans could remain observers of Earth with representatives from the Warpsmiths as well, all hiding away in the shadow of Earth’s moon as a Pantheon of sorts.

In their secret base, the new Pantheon made their plans to shape humankind’s future and added Firedrake Huey Moon to their ranks. When a most grave threat, Kid Miracleman, attacked London and created a gruesome holocaust, Miraclewoman and the Pantheon reveal themselves to the  world and stop KM.

With no cause to delay their plans for humankind, the Pantheon, with Miraclewoman acting as the God of Love, enacted sweeping global changes. From London’s ashes arose his towering pyramid, Olympus, and a new world—one free of war, of famine, of poverty—known as The Golden Age. Miraclewoman saw all things as gods and suggested a Eugenics Program that would ship frozen sperm to women who desired to rear a deity. This program produced upwards of 5,000 superhuman children, and as such, Miraclewoman became the world’s modern Aphrodite. A representative of the Qys named Mors was then sent to Earth so that they could be better represented there in this new Pantheon of gods.

Miraclewoman lived in this new world for 40 years. When Mors used Qys technology to bring back one of the Miracleman Family members, Dicky Dauntless, AKA Young Miracleman, Miraclewoman welcomed him to the Pantheon’s community. Though, like when she first met him years prior, she thought he held a candle for Miracleman. She made this known to Miracleman, insisting he talk to Dicky about it. When Miracleman made a move on Dicky, the young man left in a huff, seeing his advances as untoward, and went on a journey of self-discovery.
