Codename Razor-Fist is a brutal mercenary, who boasts blades in place of hands, and is an even deadlier assassin!
Mercenary Life
The origin of the Razor-Fist codename starts with the mercenary William Young, who possesses twin blades in place of hands. He is a bodyguard and enforcer employed by Carlton Velcro, a wealthy heroin dealer who keeps a private estate in southern France. Despite his given name, he has no personal identity nor existence beyond his role as Razor-Fist. The other two to carry the name are twin brothers Douglas and William Scott, both from China.
Blades for Hands
Douglas Scott initially had his left hand replaced with a steel blade; he presently has two steel blades that he can substitute for prosthetic hands; for a brief period he possesses cybernetic hands that can reshape themselves into his blades. While in prison at the raft, he is outfitted with two double-bladed hooks.
William Young’s hands were replaced with a pair of steel blades that he used as weapons. William Scott wears a steel blade in place of his right hand.
All three Razor-Fists are fierce and brutal fighters, able to contend with the Master of Kung Fu Shang-Chi. They boast an agility and strength that is matched by their precision with their augmented arms.
Enemies of his Employers
All three Razor-Fists go up against Martial arts master Shang-Chi and his allies, including Leiko Wu, while employed by Carlton Velcro.
While working for the Deltite, Douglas joins Lancaster Sneed, AKA Shockwave, and Maximillian Zaran to attack Avengers members Clint Barton, AKA Hawkeye, Bobbi Morse, AKA Mockingbird, and Tony Stark, AKA Iron Man. He also battles Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America and Logan/James Howlett, AKA Wolverine. On another occasion, Douglas gets hired to take out Hawkeye by William Cross, AKA Crossfire.
After escaping custody at the Raft, bounty hunters Misty Knight and Colleen Wing capture Razor-Fist, and striking with a near deadly blow with her katana, Colleen lobs off Razor’s arm.
Partners in Crime
As a mercenary, Razor-Fist gets hired to do other people’s dirty work. Carlton Velcro hires the first Razor-Fist (Young) to protect his heroin business interests but ultimately betrays him.
Velcro hires twins Douglas and William Scott as the next Razor-Fists, but William perishes accidentally by Velcro’s hand. Douglas continues to be a mercenary hired out by the likes of crime lord Roche of Madripoor, the Deltite, Parker Robbins, AKA the Hood, and Celia Ricadonna. While he often works alone, he sometimes teams up with Shockwave.
Codename Razor Fist
When MI-6 agents Sir Denis Nayland Smith, Black Jack Tarr, Clive Reston, and their ally Shang-Chi raided Velcro’s estate, Velcro sent Razor-Fist (Young) to combat Shang-Chi, but Razor-Fist was unable to best him. Unwilling to tolerate failure, Velcro had Young shot.
Later, Velcro recruited the twins Douglas and William Scott to serve as his new Razor-Fists, each wearing a single blade in place of one hand (some erroneously thought William Young was their brother). Velcro dispatched Douglas to assassinate Pavane, a former agent of Velcro who had betrayed him; however, Shang-Chi and Leiko Wu intervened on Pavane’s behalf and defeated Douglas.
Shang-Chi and Leiko then confronted Velcro and the remaining Razor-Fist (William). During the clash, Shang-Chi revealed to William how Velcro had slain the first Razor-Fist. Panicking, Velcro tried to shoot Shang-Chi but accidentally killed William.
Now the only surviving Razor-Fist, Douglas continued to operate as a mercenary, appearing to have employ an additional blade to his free hand. The Deltite conspiracy within elite intelligence agency S.H.I.E.L.D. soon hired him to assist Shockwave, and Maximillian Zaran against the Avengers to divert them from the Deltites’ operation.
Razor-Fist was then hired by Roche, a crime lord of the island nation Madripoor. While serving Roche, Razor-Fist fought Wolverine, but became redundant when Wolverine’s ally Jessan Hoan, AKA Tyger Tiger, slew Roche.
Razor-Fist drifted into other work, joining criminals hired by William Cross, AKA Crossfire, to hunt Hawkeye, attending the Advanced Idea Mechanics (A.I.M.) Weapons Expo where he battled Captain America. He also accepted the Architect (last of the mysterious Shining Ones)’s bounty on Elecktra Nachios, AKA Elektra, finding only defeat in each operation.
Outfitted with cybernetic hands, Razor-Fist joined Shockwave in kidnapping the son of the Shen Kuei, AKA Cat, for unrevealed employers, but Peter Parker, AKA Spider-Man, helped the Cat save his son. Reverting to his original blades, Razor-Fist participated in the “Bloodsport” competition in Madripoor, but was bested by his old ally Zaran. Eventually imprisoned in the Raft section of Ryker’s Island prison, Razor-Fist was among the criminals who escaped when Max Dillon, AKA Electro, helped engineer a mass breakout. Razor-Fist took up an underground operation, attracting followers amongst psychopaths (such as the Piranha Tots) and “cutters” (people compelled to mutilation). Razor-Fist was finally beaten by vigilante Patrick Mulligan, AKA Toxin, and returned to prison. Escaping, Razor-Fist was hired by Celia Ricadonna to recover a computer chip stolen by a gang of super-criminals; Razor-Fist killed one of them, Freezer Burn, but was caught by bounty hunters Misty Knight and Colleen Wing, who returned him to the Raft, but not before slicing his arm off where it met the blade.
During the super-hero “civil war,” Razor-Fist tried to participate in another jailbreak but was beaten by fellow inmate Robbie Baldwin (later Penance). Eventually escaping, Razor-Fist joined the vast criminal syndicate organized by Parker Robbins, AKA the Hood. On the Hood’s behalf, he clashed with the Enforcers in a near-gang war, but the fight was interrupted by Matt Murdock, AKA Daredevil. Participating in the Hood’s mass assault upon the Avengers at Dr. Stephen Strange, AKA Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum, Razor-Fist was beaten when Strange unleashed the power of Zom, defeating all of the criminals, who were then arrested by S.H.I.E.L.D.
Razor-Fist along with the Hood’s gang later assisted Norman Osborn, AKA Green Goblin, several times including his Siege on Asgard. Razor-Fist attacked civilians but faced two Captain Americas, that of Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes, AKA Winter Soldier, and was defeated by the patriotic pair. He was arrested again when Osborn fell.
Douglas then joined the Assassins Guild alongside Bella Donna Boudreaux, AKA Belladonna, and takes on a job to assassinate Neena Thurman, AKA Domino. Domino had been working with Wolverine who intervened on her behalf, leading to a brutal fight between Douglas and Wolverine. After Wolverine broke off one of Douglas’ razors, the battle ended with the latter’s defeat. Though he faced Wolverine again while employed by mobster Suwan, AKA Jade Claw, who led Chinatown in San Francisco, having let loose their opium slaves. This time, Douglas escaped Wolverine’s wrath.
Douglas then joined a meeting of criminal minds to discuss how to handle Victor von Doom, AKA Doctor Doom, who had become a Super Hero, taking the name Iron Man. Doom then took all the villains out at the meeting, but Douglas then later helped ambush Doom and joined the Hood once again.
When Douglas went after Charles Helder for the Assassins Guild, he ended up in a fight with Helder’s protector, Wade Wilson, AKA Deadpool. In following Helder, the pair got into an argument about how they both kill for money, Deadpool severed one of Douglas’ arms and then apparently killed him.
