Biography

Biography

South Korean Super-Agent Ami Han is White Fox, a mystical shape-shifting human/nine-tailed fox known as a Kumiho.

From Supernatural to Superspy

Born in Seoul, South Korea, and descended from demi-gods, White Fox is the last of the Kumiho—a race of mystical Korean shape-shifting nine-tailed foxes. Though sworn to protect humans, the Kumiho are hunted for their super-powered abilities, forcing them into hiding in the Namsan Mountains for centuries. Historically, humans are Kumiho prey, but when White Fox’s grandmother falls in love with her human grandfather, he helps her uncover her humanity.

White Fox decides to part ways with her mother to live among the humans to understand them better. Though before she leaves, she sees her mother is slain by humans and the Samjokgu, a three-legged dog that hunts down Kumihos. Taking advice from her mother to keep her true self a secret, she takes on her civilian identity–Ami Han–and lives with her aunt and uncle into her teenage years.

When her friend, Yeji Sul, goes missing, Ami decides to look for her. Using what her mother taught her about tracking rabbits, she finds Yeji being held by the Yongsan Brothers gang who were holding her for ransom. Ami grabs a nearby mask and engages the gang. Yeji, though blindfolded, recognizes Ami’s voice and encourages her to fight. Ami catches a familiar scent from the leader of the gang, Kyungtae Kim, who turns out to be a Samjokgu. She shape-shifts, fights him and takes out one of his eyes with her claws. Though Kim escapes, leaving Ami to free Yeji. They leave only to be surrounded by police and Director Jung of the South Korean National Intelligence Service (NIS) recruits her, and she quickly becomes one of their top agents. Publicly, she is Ami Han, the director of the NIS’ superhuman division, responsible for South Korean Super Heroes. Secretly, as White Fox she brings the supernatural powers of the nine-tailed fox to the battlefield, carrying on her family’s devotion to protect humankind.

Shape-shifting Fox

As a Kumiho, White Fox possesses a heightened sense of detection, able to hear everything and recognize scents. She also possesses extreme speed, and is multilingual—including communication with animals, especially white foxes. She’s able to shape-shift partially or fully into a giant nine-tailed fox, also known as a Kumiho, with each tail possessing unique powers that have yet to be fully realized. White Fox also possesses retractable claws and never tires. She can leap across great distances, and the ability may be related to one or all of her tails—more about this ability is yet to be seen.

While White Fox is not invincible, she is however mystically connected to her ancestors who pass down healing artifacts. Once, her grandmother visits her bearing a gift: a Yeowoo Guseul—a fox marble that allows a Kumiho to absorb human energy and rehabilitate their powers. When White Fox uses the marble, the human ingests it and seems to suffer no more than a nap. Her powers also seem to allow her to commune with others’ spirits when on another plane or pocket realm.

She is an expert close combatant having undergone training with the South Korean Intelligence Service, training on their headquarters rooftop in Seoul. As an agent of the service, she also speaks at least six languages.

Super-powered Enemies

Thrust into the Elder of the Universe En Dwi Gast, AKA Grandmaster’s Contest of Champions, White Fox fights Bruce Banner, AKA The Maestro, from another universe.

White Fox also faces god-like foes, such as Sindr and earthlings infected by the Celestial  artifact, the Creation Constellation.

Familial Ties and Heroic Allies

As the last of her kind, White Fox does not have many familial ties. She joins the South Korean National Intelligence Service under Director Gina Jung, and ends up working with other spies and heroes.

While investigating the death of a fellow countryman and hero, Gun-R, White Fox calls upon the Ultimates in New York: T’Challa, AKA Black Panther, Carol Danvers, AKA Captain Marvel, America Chavez, Miss America, Monica Rambeau, AKA Spectrum, and Adam Brashear, AKA Blue Marvel.

When her city of Seoul comes under attack from an unknown source, she defends the city and its people alongside heroes Dan Bi, AKA Crescent, and her magic bear spirit, Io, against a barrage of forces. She and the others then get invited to join with the new Agents of Atlas through their de facto leader Amadeus Cho, AKA Brawn. They join the rest of the Atlas team, which includes Shang-Chi, AKA Master of Kung Fu, and Cindy Moon, AKA Silk, as well as their leader, former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jimmy Woo. They join with Seol Hee, AKA Luna Snow, Lin Lie, AKA Sword Master, Lei Ling, AKA Aero, Pearl Pangan, AKA Wave, and Tūtū Pele, AKA Pele the Hawaiian Goddess of fire, and the whole team defeats the source, Sindr, the Queen of Cinders and Muspelheim.

White Fox joins a team of undercover, highly trained, armed, international women to hunt down an artifact from space. She allies with former spy and occasional Avenger Natasha Romanoff, AKA Black Widow alongside the luck dragon Neena Thurman, AKA Domino, demolitions prodigy Rachel Leighton, AKA Diamondback, super-strong bounty hunter Inez Temple, AKA Outlaw, and exiled Wakandan who can see the future, Gen. Shoon’kwa, AKA Atlas Bear. White Fox does what she wants, and it gets her kicked off the team, but she returns in time to help save the day from a Celestial infection.

A Fox’s Tale

Acting as White Fox’s liaison with her civilian identity Ami Han, she kept up the guise with her NIS colleagues, except her doctor, Dr. Kim. After a fierce battle with Ahmet Abdol, AKA Living Monolith, Dr. Kim reminded her that she is not invincible. She informed him that her grandmother appeared to her afterward and gave her a Yeowoo Guseul—a fox marble, which, according to legend, can rehabilitate Kumiho power. His disbelief does not sway her from using it while out at Karaoke, which restored her abilities.

Agent White Fox then assisted with the investigation into the death of one of the greatest heroes of South Korea, Gun-R. Before she arrived at NIS headquarters, she requested the body of Gun-R so that she could conduct an investigation her way. She immediately picked up an unrecognizable scent on his armor, one not of Earth. She also noticed that some of his components were missing and concluded he was cannibalized. Meanwhile, The Maestro—God-King of Battleworld—plotted to snatch White Fox and enter her into the contest as the fifth member of the Collector’s squad.

White Fox also concluded that Gun-R was kidnapped, removed from Earth and taken to another place—noting she had some experience with pocket realms and universes—and that she suspected the culprit would strike again. White Fox relayed all this information to the Ultimates, a team of Super Heroes based on the Triskelion in New York City. The group included Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Miss America, Spectrum, and Blue Marvel.

White Fox and the Ultimates traveled to see the Grandmaster, games-obsessed elder of the universe, who pits villains and heroes against each other in a contest of champions with Taneleer Tivan, AKA The Collector, another elder. The Grandmaster admitted to starting another contest and putting Gun-R in it. White Fox places him under arrest for his crimes against the people of South Korea though he grows several sizes to intimidate her and the group. Spectrum chimed in with her abilities to grow in strength and shortly afterward, the team departed for Battleworld through one of Miss America’s portals.

Upon their arrival, Symbiods swarm them, and while they fought them off, The Maestro aware of their appearance, sent them all back to the Triskelion—save White fox who he sent to the field with the other champions. All of a sudden, the Mighty Avengers from Earth-TRN619 appeared wanting them to register. White Fox encouraged the champions to split up and fight, and violence between the groups ensued, up until Earth-TRN619’s Thunderbolts appeared. A civil war broke out but when The Maestro entered the fray, he was armored to the teeth and the groups stopped infighting and directed their energy at him. The contest ended when Nigel Higgins, AKA Outlaw, used the iso-sphere—pure power capable of rewriting reality and granting wishes. With Outlaw ending the contest, everyone returned to their respective realities.

White Fox as her civilian identity, Ami Han, met up with Captain Marvel and Lt. Commander Abigail Brand who requested White Fox join the Ulysses Initiative—though they remained unaware that Ami was in fact, White Fox herself. Ami informed them that they’d have an answer at the end of the week. While buying some fruit from a vendor, a pigeon speaks to her, relaying that Brand stayed behind. The pigeon encouraged her to join the Initiative where she could let her hair down and her tail out more often, instead of hiding as Ami. White Fox invited Brand to a training session, and after fighting with her, she decided to reject Captain Marvel’s offer to join.

White Fox later fought alongside Brawn against Xemnu, an extraterrestrial who could invade everyone’s mind and make their dreams come true. White Fox and Brawn confronted Xemnu, but the monster tricked Brawn and unleashed his inner Hulk. He threw White Fox off a building after she specifically told him not to do so. She landed on a building below and gave orders to her Intelligence colleagues to wait for her signal to launch a bomb at the monster, giving Brawn time to beat Xemnu.

Later, White Fox joined a crew of international women of mystery to recover a mysterious artifact. On their journey, Atlas Bear expressed a lack of trust for both Black Widow and White Fox, claiming their allegiance lay with a government instead of humanity. White Fox laid out all that she knew about Atlas Bear, noting that everyone’s credentials, including hers, are suspect. They traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina, and met the scientist who found the artifact, Gavrie Mazarov. Though the artifact lived inside him, making him a veritable god, and drove him mad. When the Argentine Federal Police showed up, Mazarov believed they betrayed him and unleashed the artifact. They soon discovered that the artifact was from a Celestial, immensely powerful and ancient beings in the universe. In the battle, Mazarov touched Outlaw, giving her a cosmic infection that soon passed to the rest of the team. The mercenary Wade Wilson, AKA Deadpool, joined them after Mazarov left in a hurry.

Wade informed them that his employer Tony Stark, AKA Iron Man, said the artifact was the Creation Constellation and joined the team to help find it. The artifact incited an international arms race between the most powerful governments, and to keep the object out of everyone’s hands, Domino made the group swear they would destroy it. White Fox remained silent, clearly reluctant to agree but Domino accepted her silence as an agreement. The team then battled Iron Man’s Sentries and later Sentinels, who sought the artifact. The team eventually eliminated Mazarov, but Outlaw’s infection passed to Domino, and White Fox attacked her. Domino kicked her off the team for the attack, despite White Fox’s plea for community, and had Stark’s Sentries take the artifact to the sun.

Shortly afterward, an infected Dr. Deun, AKA Guen the Executioner, attacked claiming they had killed her love, Mazarov. When the battle looked lost, White Fox returned with the artifact in hand and gave it to Domino. Both Domino and White Fox, in spirit form, discussed the Celestial object. White Fox guided Domino through the possibilities of how she could use it to remake her life but left the choice to Domino. Domino used it to defeat the newborn God, and the team survived another day.

During the War of the Realms, when Sindr attacks Seoul, White Fox fights alongside the Super Hero duo Crescent, Io, and Luna Snow, to defend their city. Soon joined by the New Agents of Atlas’ de facto leader Brawn, they initially fight him off, not realizing he was there to help. Brawn teleported them to a safer location but left a captured Luna behind. They rendezvoused with the rest of the Atlas team and met Master of Kung Fu, Silk, as well as their leader, former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jimmy Woo and current headmaster of the Pan-Asian School for the Unusually Gifted. Woo encouraged the team to work together to liberate Luna from Sindr’s Goblins of Msupelheim. Following their success at freeing Luna, they met up with Sword Master, Aero, Wave, and Pele, the Hawaiian Goddess of Fire. White Fox joined Woo and Cho for a meeting with the other Pacific Rim heroes, and then joined the others for a meal and formulated a plan to split up and fight Sindr’s forces. Woo explained to half the team that only mystical power had a chance to defeat Sindr and so he brought them to China to join the Monkey King, of the Ascendants in Beijing, to train for the fight. White Fox trained with the team, transforming into her fox form. Afterward, the group came together and defeated Sindr, sending her armies back to Msupelheim through the Asgardian Rainbow Bridge.
