South Korean Super-Agent Ami Han is White Fox, a mystical shape-shifting human/nine-tailed fox known as a Kumiho.
From Supernatural to Superspy
Born in Seoul, South Korea, and descended from demi-gods, White Fox is the last of the Kumiho—a race of mystical Korean shape-shifting nine-tailed foxes. Though sworn to protect humans, the Kumiho are hunted for their super-powered abilities, forcing them into hiding in the Namsan Mountains for centuries. Historically, humans are Kumiho prey, but when White Fox’s grandmother falls in love with her human grandfather, he helps her uncover her humanity.
White Fox decides to part ways with her mother to live among the humans to understand them better. Though before she leaves, she sees her mother is slain by humans and the Samjokgu, a three-legged dog that hunts down Kumihos. Taking advice from her mother to keep her true self a secret, she takes on her civilian identity–Ami Han–and lives with her aunt and uncle into her teenage years.
When her friend, Yeji Sul, goes missing, Ami decides to look for her. Using what her mother taught her about tracking rabbits, she finds Yeji being held by the Yongsan Brothers gang who were holding her for ransom. Ami grabs a nearby mask and engages the gang. Yeji, though blindfolded, recognizes Ami’s voice and encourages her to fight. Ami catches a familiar scent from the leader of the gang, Kyungtae Kim, who turns out to be a Samjokgu. She shape-shifts, fights him and takes out one of his eyes with her claws. Though Kim escapes, leaving Ami to free Yeji. They leave only to be surrounded by police and Director Jung of the South Korean National Intelligence Service (NIS) recruits her, and she quickly becomes one of their top agents. Publicly, she is Ami Han, the director of the NIS’ superhuman division, responsible for South Korean Super Heroes. Secretly, as White Fox she brings the supernatural powers of the nine-tailed fox to the battlefield, carrying on her family’s devotion to protect humankind.
Shape-shifting Fox
As a Kumiho, White Fox possesses a heightened sense of detection, able to hear everything and recognize scents. She also possesses extreme speed, and is multilingual—including communication with animals, especially white foxes. She’s able to shape-shift partially or fully into a giant nine-tailed fox, also known as a Kumiho, with each tail possessing unique powers that have yet to be fully realized. White Fox also possesses retractable claws and never tires. She can leap across great distances, and the ability may be related to one or all of her tails—more about this ability is yet to be seen.
While White Fox is not invincible, she is however mystically connected to her ancestors who pass down healing artifacts. Once, her grandmother visits her bearing a gift: a Yeowoo Guseul—a fox marble that allows a Kumiho to absorb human energy and rehabilitate their powers. When White Fox uses the marble, the human ingests it and seems to suffer no more than a nap. Her powers also seem to allow her to commune with others’ spirits when on another plane or pocket realm.
She is an expert close combatant having undergone training with the South Korean Intelligence Service, training on their headquarters rooftop in Seoul. As an agent of the service, she also speaks at least six languages.
Super-powered Enemies
Thrust into the Elder of the Universe En Dwi Gast, AKA Grandmaster’s Contest of Champions, White Fox fights Bruce Banner, AKA The Maestro, from another universe.
White Fox also faces god-like foes, such as Sindr and earthlings infected by the Celestial artifact, the Creation Constellation.
Familial Ties and Heroic Allies
As the last of her kind, White Fox does not have many familial ties. She joins the South Korean National Intelligence Service under Director Gina Jung, and ends up working with other spies and heroes.
While investigating the death of a fellow countryman and hero, Gun-R, White Fox calls upon the Ultimates in New York: T’Challa, AKA Black Panther, Carol Danvers, AKA Captain Marvel, America Chavez, Miss America, Monica Rambeau, AKA Spectrum, and Adam Brashear, AKA Blue Marvel.
When her city of Seoul comes under attack from an unknown source, she defends the city and its people alongside heroes Dan Bi, AKA Crescent, and her magic bear spirit, Io, against a barrage of forces. She and the others then get invited to join with the new Agents of Atlas through their de facto leader Amadeus Cho, AKA Brawn. They join the rest of the Atlas team, which includes Shang-Chi, AKA Master of Kung Fu, and Cindy Moon, AKA Silk, as well as their leader, former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jimmy Woo. They join with Seol Hee, AKA Luna Snow, Lin Lie, AKA Sword Master, Lei Ling, AKA Aero, Pearl Pangan, AKA Wave, and Tūtū Pele, AKA Pele the Hawaiian Goddess of fire, and the whole team defeats the source, Sindr, the Queen of Cinders and Muspelheim.
White Fox joins a team of undercover, highly trained, armed, international women to hunt down an artifact from space. She allies with former spy and occasional Avenger Natasha Romanoff, AKA Black Widow alongside the luck dragon Neena Thurman, AKA Domino, demolitions prodigy Rachel Leighton, AKA Diamondback, super-strong bounty hunter Inez Temple, AKA Outlaw, and exiled Wakandan who can see the future, Gen. Shoon’kwa, AKA Atlas Bear. White Fox does what she wants, and it gets her kicked off the team, but she returns in time to help save the day from a Celestial infection.
