Biography

Biography

Considered an Omega-level weapon before she’s born, the Shi’ar Royal Xandra Neramani ends up being a sought-after prize by the Shi’ar Imperial Guard. Upon her birth, she immediately possesses telepathic gifts from her mutant father and the responsibility to rule her people by her mother.

Genetically Engineered

Xandra Neramani’s parentage is that of Professor Charles Xavier, AKA Professor X, and Lilandra Neramani, former Majestrix of the Shi’ar Empire, who are both believed to be deceased at the time of Xandra’s creation. Therefore, Xandra is genetically engineered from her parents leftover DNA materials. While kept in stasis as an egg and cared for by Cerise—a Shi’ar warrior and personal aide to the now deceased Lilandra—word gets around about the egg’s existence and becomes a sought-after prize by the Shi’ar Imperial Guard as well as others who thought that the egg was an Omega-level weapon. Cerise realizes the danger and warns the egg to stay hidden—to continue pretending to be an egg—and promises to save her no matter what happens.

Meanwhile, X-Men Anna Marie, AKA Rogue, and Remy LeBeau, AKA Gambit, receive orders while on their honeymoon from Kitty Pryde to retrieve the egg. Along their journey, they face the Shi’ar Imperial Guard, Technet, and mercenary Wade Wilson, AKA Deadpool. Once they retrieved the egg, they begrudgingly partner with Deadpool to protect it. To their surprise, the egg hatches as a younger copy of Rogue, but only mirrors her out of survival. With Kitty Pryde’s help, Rogue, Gambit, and the egg (now mini Rogue), learn of the egg’s parentage and how valuable she is as a potentially Omega-level weapon and pawn in the Shi’ar’s complex royal politics. Kitty also reveals that before her death, Majestrix Lilandra pledged all her progeny to the royal line, complicating matters for her offspring. The mini Rogue then telepathically probes Rogue and Gambit’s minds to discover more about her parents. After learning all that she could, she transforms herself into an appearance that combined the images of both her parents, but ends up looking most similar to her mother.

Telepathic Powers

Xandra is a telepath, presumably a trait inherited by her mutant father, therefore she can read minds, mentally attack others’ minds as well as input information into them. She possesses this ability while kept in stasis as an egg, unlike other mutants who come into their powers at puberty. Once hatched, Xandra seems to have mastery of her powers. She is also considered, by many that seek to use her, as an Omega-level weapon, so powerful that it defies classification.

Using her telepathic abilities, Xandra can alter her outward appearance at will, to either mirror those around her or appear as something else altogether, such as an egg or a ball of light—making others see what she wants them to see.

Royal Family, Friends, and Foes

Daughter to Shi’ar Empress Lilandra Neramani, Xandra is part of the Shi’ar Royal Family. She is niece to her mother’s siblings, Cal’Syee Neramani, AKA Deathbird, D’ken, and Adam, AKA X-Treme. On her father’s side, she is related to her father’s siblings Cassandra Xavier, AKA Cassandra Nova, and Cain Marko, AKA Juggernaut. On her father’s side, she has a half-brother, David Haller, AKA Legion

While she has all these biological relations, Lilandra’s advisor Cerise cares for Xandra while she’s in her egg stage. Xandra ends up knowing Cerise’s mind better than she knows her own since Cerise has been there from the beginning of her creation.

When word travels that Xandra, merely in egg form, could be a weapon, several factions and mercenaries go after her, including the Shi’ar Imperial Guard, Technet, and Deadpool. The X-Men Rogue and Gambit come to her aide, as do Cerise and the intergalactic space pirates, the Starjammers.

While being supported by Shi’ar’s Majestor, Kallark, AKA Gladiator, Xandra’s royal bloodline results in her having enemies everywhere—even in her own guard, such as Sybil, AKA Oracle. Xandra punishes Oracle’s transgression by installing her as an advisor to the throne.

A Shi’ar Ruler’s Story

When Nightside appeared to take the egg for the Shi’ar Empire, Xandra quickly used an illusion to transform herself back into an egg to protect herself. While she was taken away from Rogue and Gambit to the Shi’ar Empire, the next time she heard Rogue’s voice, she transformed back into herself. Xandra used her telepathic ability to make others see them all as different people securing their escape. On their way out, the Starjammers fired on their ship. Xandra sensed Cerise on the Starjammer’s ship and communicated with her. Xandra’s telepathically communicated with Cerise who advised that they should land on a nearby moon and rendezvous. Xandra reunited with Cerise but there reunion was cut short by the Imperial Guard who attacked. Xandra telepathically shared a plan with Rogue to combine her power of illusions with Rogue’s absorption power and they made it look like they both exploded. Their plan worked and without capturing Xandra, the Imperial Guard departed. Xandra and Rogue returned to Cerise and Gambit, and Rogue’s powers increased, to a point where she could absorb others powers without touching them. Xandra helped Rogue understand, having peered into her mind, that she was evolving. Shortly afterward, Xandra left with Cerise not knowing where they were headed.

At some point, Xandra began living in Chandilar, the Shi’ar throneworld, to learn how to rule as Majestrix under the tutelage of her aunt Deathbird—a suggestion by Gladiator who was ruling as Majestor and feared a war with the Titans. Upon Deathbird’s arrival thanks to the New Mutants, she revealed that the Shi’ar Imperial Guard Oracle betrayed Xandra as she was unwilling to follow the rule of a child. Xandra punished Oracle by having her serve as an advisor, to teach her to think like a soldier and not just a just sovereign.
