Spider-Man & Ms. Marvel

After a science demo at Empire State University goes horribly wrong, Ms. Marvel and Spider-Man find themselves tangled in the same web of chaos! Is it destiny? Or disaster?!

Spider-Man & Human Torch

In Marvel Team-Up (1972) #1

Spider-Man and the Human Torch have developed a close friendship over the years, but they cement their bond in the very first issue of Marvel Team-Up. Together, the heroes go after Spidey’s longtime foe, the Sandman, during Christmas Eve. Much to their surprise, Spider-Man and Human Torch discover that Sandman has a very touching reason to make his presence known. Also a great beginning for the series.

Spider-Man & Yellowjacket and Wasp

In Marvel Team-Up (1972) #59

Marvel Team-Up #59 and #60 features a story that pairs Spider-Man with Yellowjacket and the Wasp from the Avengers. A rare two-part arc that puts one hero’s life in danger, the lush artwork from Byrne still makes it worth revisiting decades later.

Spider-Man & Captain Britain

In Marvel Team-Up (1972) #65

Chris Claremont and John Byrne strike gold in this two-parter which introduces American readers to Captain Britain. It also features the debut of Arcade and his deadly Murderworld. Both Captain Britain and Arcade went on to become part of the X-Men’s ever-expanding world. This tale works as a standalone, and it’s still one of the highlights of the entire series.

Spider-Man & Fantastic Four

In Marvel Team-Up (1972) #100

For the big anniversary issue, Claremont teams with Frank Miller on a story that pairs Spidey with the Fantastic Four. It’s also the tale that introduces Karma, a young heroine who went on to co-star in 1983’s New Mutants. In a backup story, Claremont and Byrne reunite for a Black Panther and Storm adventure that establishes their history and sets the stage for their romance and wedding decades later.

Spider-Man & Some X-Men

In Marvel Team-Up (1972) #150

What better way to close out Marvel Team-Up’s run than an adventure with Spider-Man and the X-Men? Wolverine and Storm are nowhere to be found in this tale, but it does give Spidey a chance to fight alongside Rachel Summers, Rogue, Nightcrawler and Colossus. This issue also establishes that the Juggernaut's strength can be shared with another person, while also giving the longtime villain a surprising motivation.
