Reptil Unleashed

In Reptil (2021) #1

In the wake of Kamala’s Law and his grandfather’s worsening health, Humberto Lopez, AKA Reptil, has taken a step back from crime-fighting. But when a mysterious figure ambushes Humberto, what unravels will shake the core of everything he thought he knew about his past and will either change the course of his future—or end it forever!

Meet Angelo Espinosa

In Uncanny X-Men (1981) #317

A “Phalanx Covenant” tie-in and the first appearance of Skin!

Generation X

In Generation X (1994) #1

Before Skin, AKA Angelo Espinosa, I had never seen a Mexican Super Hero in a comic book before. Seeing Skin got me reading this series. GENERATION X and its multicultural cast of teens, including Penance, Monet, Synch, Jubilee, and Mondo, all became characters I related to and grew to love.

Young Avengers

In Young Avengers (2013) #15

Years later I’d devour YOUNG AVENGERS and its stories filled with queer Super Heroes. I could list many memorable scenes, but there was a moment in issue #15 by Kieron Gillen and Jamie Mckelvie when Kate Bishop asks if she’s the only “straight one” on the team. As she literally kicks a star-shaped hole into reality, America Chavez replies: “Princess… I’ve seen the way you look at me. You’re not that straight.”

“Outlawed” Fallout

In Outlawed (2020) #1

In Issue #2 of REPTIL (out in comic shops now!), Humberto Lopez, AKA Reptil, is afraid to use his powers because they’ve been banned by Kamala’s Law, a storyline taking place in another great Young Adult book, OUTLAWED (2020).

America Chavez: Made in the USA

In America Chavez: Made in the USA (2021) #1

I don’t see enough queer Latinx representation in comics, but I absolutely love the way that Kalinda Vazquez and Carlos Gomez are expanding America Chavez’s story in her new series.

Children of the Atom

In Children of the Atom (2021) #1

The next generation of teen heroes! (And the X-Men’s biggest fans.) They've learned from the best, now they're ready to be put to the test...

Strange Academy

In Strange Academy (2020) #1

A Sorcerer School for the Marvel Universe! Young people from around the world with aptitude in magic have been brought together in New Orleans to study the Mystic Arts under Doctor Strange, Doctor Voodoo, the Ancient One, Scarlet Witch, Magik, Hellstrom and ALL your favorite Marvel magicians.
