First Appearance

In Young Avengers (2005) #1

It all starts at a wedding! While at the ceremony for her older sister, Kate, and all the invited guests, are held at gunpoint! Right off the bat we see exactly what this Hawkeye is made of. While everyone else is willing to submit to the attackers, Kate boldly reminds her sister that “there’s five of them and two hundred of us.” Kate doesn't just work on instinct; she works from skill.

A Hero’s Origin

In YOUNG AVENGERS SPECIAL 1 (2005) #1

A great mixture of backstory and pathos that tells us exactly who the Young Avengers are and why they do what they do. In an exclusive for the Daily Bugle, Kate talks to Jessica Jones about how she took up the bow and arrow. Kate also tells Jessica that she’s always been uncomfortable with her family’s wealth. What does Hawkeye owe to her family, and what does she owe to the world?

Meet the Hawkeyes

In Hawkeye (2012) #1

Matt Fraction and David Aja give you two Hawkeyes (or is one Hawkguy?) in this Eisner Award-winning run! Kate has a great deal to learn from original Hawkeye Clint Barton…but she pretty much ends up schooling Clint at his own gig! Read on for high-speed car chases, Lucky the Pizza Dog, and the Tracksuit Mafia.

West Coast Bound

In Hawkeye (2016) #1

The City of Angels got a new guardian in this splashy series by Kelly Thompson, Leonardo Romero, and Jordie Bellaire! Following Clint Barton’s trial in CIVIL WAR II, Kate moved to Los Angeles to establish Hawkeye Investigations, her detective agency that dealt with superhuman and (human) mysteries. There are guest-stars galore in this ideal starter series, notably New York’s own Jessica Jones.

Leading the West Coast Avengers

In West Coast Avengers (2018) #1

This 10-issue run is one big hit for Kate. Continuing the West Coast adventures of her detective-ing and super hero-ing, Bishop and a cast of disparate oddballs assemble against some of the strangest threats this side of the Pacific. And there’s a catch: Their super-team is funded by a film crew, meaning every action, feeling, burgeoning romance, and open threat is documented for public viewing!

A Heist and a Homecoming

In Hawkeye: Kate Bishop (2021) #1

Following her stint in Los Angeles, this five-issue limited series picks up at a turning point in Kate’s life as she returns to New York. When Kate gets invited to a resort to solve a mysterious jewel heist, she sees it as a confidence boost, a sign that she’s making the right decision and not going to backslide into her past. The case is perfect…and it’s almost definitely a trap.
