The Birth of Billy & Tommy Maximoff

In Vision and the Scarlet Witch (1985) #12

While Wanda was married to the Vision, she used her reality-altering hex powers and magic to become pregnant with the twins. Despite their unusual conception, the Maximoff twins were delivered by Doctor Strange and spent the early months of their lives under the care of their parents.

The Twins Erased

In West Coast Avengers (1985) #51

When she created the twins, Scarlet Witch inadvertently used parts of souls that belonged to Mephisto. He sent Master Pandemonium to reabsorb them, traumatizing Wanda to the point that her mentor Agatha Harkness erased their memories from her mind.

Billy Returns

In Young Avengers (2005) #1

Wiccan and Speed's spirits eventually found new hosts in Billy Kaplan and Tommy Shepherd, who were born to unrelated parents. Billy returned to the Marvel Universe as Wiccan when he joined Iron Lad, Patriot, Hulkling, Hawkeye, and Stature in the first iteration of the Young Avengers.

Billy & Tommy Reunited

The Young Avengers found Tommy in a superhuman juvenile detention facility, where he had ended up after destroying his school with his powers. When Billy and Tommy came face-to-face, their teammate Stature remarked that they looked like identical twins.

The Maximoff Legacy Revealed

In Young Avengers (2005) #11

During a rescue mission, the Young Avengers ran into the Super-Skrull, who revealed Billy and Tommy were not only brothers, but the sons of the Scarlet Witch. Around this time, the Vision—who had been reconstructed in a younger form—also confirmed the Super-Skrull's claims about the boys.

The Search for Wanda Maximoff Begins

In Young Avengers Presents (2008) #3

Speed and Wiccan learned about their relationship to Scarlet Witch in the wake of HOUSE OF M, where Wanda went missing after temporarily reshaping reality. Troubled by nightmares about Wanda and Mephisto, Billy stepped away from the rest of the Young Avengers and convinced Tommy to help him search for their mystical mother.

Family Reunion

In Avengers: The Children's Crusade (2010) #1

The Young Avengers tracked Scarlet Witch down to Latveria, where they found Wanda with no powers and no memories. Worse, she was engaged to marry Doctor Doom. Ultimately, Wanda regained her memories and embraced Tommy and Billy as the reincarnations of her long-lost sons.

The Trial of Magneto

In X-Men: The Trial of Magneto (2021) #3

Although their lives took them to different sides of the universe, Wiccan and Speed reunited when the Scarlet Witch was found dead in the mutant nation Krakoa. Tommy and Billy tried to figure out what happened to her alongside a team of mutant investigators and reckoned with a younger version of their mother after she was brought by to life by the mutant resurrection protocols.

Time-Tossed Trial

In Marvel's Voices Infinity Comic (2022) #8

A younger incarnation of Tommy and Billy get an assist from America Chavez, who protects the boys from Mephisto, the demonic entity aiming to reclaim their souls.

Missing Chapter

Young Tommy and Billy continue to flee from Mephisto, which sets them down the path towards a new adventure.
