The extra-dimensional security organization known as A.R.M.O.R. safeguards Earth from global security threats posed by alternate realities.
The World’s Armor
The Alternate Reality Monitoring and Operational Response Agency (A.R.M.O.R.), is a top-secret government agency created by the United Nations Security Council Invisible Resolution 121 and tasked with guarding Earth-616 against alternate and divergent reality threats. A.R.M.O.R. is affiliated with the espionage and security organization S.H.I.E.L.D. which handles advanced technological, supernatural, and extraterrestrial threats.
A Hidden Agency’s Inner Workings
Based in the hidden headquarters known as Hollow, only accessible via teleportation, A.R.M.O.R. is led by Director Charles Little Sky, AKA Portal, whose mutant ability allows him to travel between extra-dimensional worlds. Team members include the robotic Aaron Stack, AKA Machine Man, and Jocasta Pym, AKA Jocasta, as well as Dr. Michael Morbius, AKA Morbius, the Living Vampire.
Little Sky later authorizes Morbius to gather a new Midnight Sons team under A.R.M.O.R. command and comprised of Morbius, Daimon Hellstrom, AKA Hellstorm, Jennifer Kale, and the Jack Russell, AKA Werewolf by Night. Morbius eventually recruits the unlikely birdbrained hero Howard the Duck as an A.R.M.O.R. agent. Howard teams up with the legendary veteran Dum Dum Dugan and his squad to beat back the zombie horde.
Extra-dimensional Enemies
A.R.M.O.R.’s foes are any extra-dimensional threats from alternate and divergent realities. These threats can include anything from contamination like viruses to conflict such as physical assaults by assailants against citizens of Earth or Earth itself.
The organization deploys its agents to face zombies, including an alternate reality zombie plague and Cyber-Sidhe of Earth 10001011. When Lyra of Earth-8009 arrives on Earth, A.R.M.O.R. sees her as a threat at first, while Norman Osborn, AKA Green Goblin, of H.A.M.M.E.R., sees her as an ally and leverage to fold A.R.M.O.R. into H.A.M.M.E.R. He sent his Dark Avengers and they captured her. Though Lyra downloads covert information and A.R.M.O.R.’s director Portal teleports Lyra with She-Hulk’s help out of custody. Lyra uses the information she gathered and makes a deal with Portal to stay on Earth and become an agent.
Super-powered Recruits
A.R.M.O.R. recruits several agents and special agents into their organization, including but not limited to Morbius, Machine Man, Jocasta, Hellstorm, Jennifer Kale, and Werewolf by Night, Lyra, Jennifer Walters, AKA She-Hulk, and Howard the Duck.
When A.R.M.O.R. tracks a possible incursion from Earth-8009 occurring in New York City, it turns out to be the daughter of Thundra and Bruce Banner, AKA Hulk, Lyra, from an alternate reality in the future. Under A.R.M.O.R.’s authority, She-Hulk attempts to reason with Lyra and bring her to heel. Possessing sensitive information gathered while in H.A.M.M.E.R.’s custody, A.R.M.O.R. offers Lyra a deal and invites her to join them as an agent.
A.R.M.O.R. also allies itself with the Midnight Sons, S.H.I.E.L.D., the Initiative’s Command, Ducky’s Dozen. Other A.R.M.O.R. agents include Teresa Rigotti, Isabel Cabrera, Taurette, Rosalind, AKA Riveter, and Lagaro, AKA Dynaman.
Secret Protectors
When Earth-2149’s superhuman population became infected with a zombie virus, it turned to other Earths for food sources. Discovering Earth-616, the zombies sent their reality’s Deadpool and Michael Morbius there to prepare an invasion. Zombie Morbius captured his 616 counterpart, Dr. Michael Morbius, and covertly replaced him in A.R.M.O.R. Meanwhile, Zombie Deadpool confronted the Initiative team, the Command, which had been sent by A.R.M.O.R. to contain him. During a fight with locals infected by Zombie Deadpool, the Command tasted defeat with the death of team members The Conquistador and John Kelly, AKA Siege. Command’s Aquarian then resorted to hibernation to purge the impurity from his system.
A.R.M.O.R. recovered Zombie Deadpool, by this point, only a sentient talking head. Seeking a preemptive measure against the virus, A.R.M.O.R. sent the robotic (and thus zombie virus-immune) Machine Man and Jocasta to Earth-2149, the virus’ native dimension. Their task, to obtain blood samples from non-infected humans there to create an antidote, unaware that the Zombie Morbius planned the ruse for all Initiative heroes to unwittingly subject themselves to the virus. In addition, A.R.M.O.R. began to locate and contain other types of zombies to study, such as Earth-616’s Simon Garth, AKA Zombie.
As Machine Man and Jocasta obtained a blood sample from Earth- 2149’s Vanessa Fisk, Morbius-2149’s impersonation was accidentally discovered by A.R.M.O.R. agent Deb, whom he infected, spreading the virus quickly throughout the Hollow. Little Sky returned Jocasta to 616 to find the Hollow overrun with zombies. Still, after Machine Man found his way back to 616, the three—along with 616’s Morbius—contained most of the zombies from escaping, including the infected Captain Azteca from Earth-1519. During the chaos, the Zombie Garth escaped, and with Zombie Deadpool guiding him, the two teleported away. Little Sky authorized Morbius to gather a new Midnight Sons team under A.R.M.O.R. command. Comprised of Morbius, Hellstorm, Jennifer Kale, and Werewolf by Night, the team tracked Garth and Deadpool-2149 to the island nation Taino, where Werewolf’s human form became infected. When the virus mutated and became airborne, Little Sky ordered a nuclear strike on the island, but the Midnight Sons contained the virus at the last second, placing it within Garth.
When an A.R.M.O.R. squad failed to contain Earth-8009’s Lyra upon her arrival, Little Sky authorized She-Hulk to capture her. Instead, Norman Osborn’s Avengers captured Lyra, leaving Little Sky incensed that Osborn had overstepped his authority regarding extra-dimensional threats. Realizing Lyra was not a threat, after all, Little Sky authorized She-Hulk to break her out of Avengers Tower, and the two teleported back to the Hollow. A grateful Lyra offered her services to A.R.M.O.R. and—after being dubbed She-Hulk in honor of Walters—was sent to stop the Cyber-Sidhe of Earth-01000101. Successful, Lyra was soon faced with General John Ryker’s Gamma Corps: Black team, who slew A.R.M.O.R. agent Alex Erde. Lyra killed the entire team in retaliation and apparently left A.R.M.O.R.
To help find a cure for Werewolf, Morbius sent Machine Man and new A.R.M.O.R. agent Howard the Duck to numerous alternate realities overrun by various types of zombies, some unauthorized by A.R.M.O.R. as they had been quarantined from travel. While traveling, they came upon Swift Cloud, daughter to Hurricane, to help, and she accepted after her zombies ate her father.
A.R.M.O.R. then found themselves combatting zombie Nazis in an alternate reality. Howard teamed up with World War II veteran Dum Dum Dugan to beat back the Nazi zombie horde from overtaking other realities. His squad, known as Ducky’s Dozen, included specialized fighters Lemar Hoskins, AKA Battlestar, Dragoon, William Carmody, AKA Eternal Brain, Flexo, Mark Todd, AKA Blazing Skull, Kurt Barton, AKA Breeze Barton, Dynaman, Gur, Taxi Taylor, Libertas, Madeline Joyce, AKA Miss America, and Riveter. After a perilous fight with the Nazi Zombie versions of the Invaders, and heading towards enemy headquarters, the team gets attacked by zombie Valkyries. Through an unlikely ally, Loki (Earth-12591), Ducky’s Dozen discovered how Asgard became zombie territory. They also learned that Loki caused the zombie plague. The team decided to take their chances and go through with a daring raid into the very heart of the zombie Red Skull's territory. The team lost Eternal Brain after he sacrificed himself to save the others, as well as Blazing Skull, Breeze Barton, and Flexo. Miss America was also seemingly lost after she reprogrammed a bomb to hit the zombie base, which gave the others time to escape the ensuing explosion and return to Earth-616. Though they brought back the remains of Captain America who awoke as a zombie.
A.R.M.O.R. later added Agents Teresa Rigotti and Isabel Cabrera to their ranks and they helped Steve Harmon, AKA Slapstick, against Bro-Man.
