The fertile mind of Stan Lee….the matchless art of Jack Kirby! How lucky we were to have this wonderful comic. I bought my first copy from a fanzine ad in 1966, and found my second copy in a second-hand shop in 1974. It's hard to communicate to anyone today how we turned away from DC's cliched stories and embraced the amazing Marvel Universe when we finally discovered it. I absolutely don't care about the small and picky little lapses of logic. I am a 65-year-old university professor who is an international authority in his field, and a grandfather. But nothing brings back the halcyon days of yesteryear like this fascinating series of comics.

Does anyone recall when The Thing was able to shoot rocks from his fist in the comics or cartoon versions?  I seem to recall it but can't find when it happened, if it was a story line or whatever. Thanks for any input

Great story, but still, very goofy. Especially during the summon: Invisible Girl turning invisible for...no reason at all. The Thing causes a ton of property damage without really caring, the Torch melting a car he worked on for hours, instead of, I don't know, leaving the car before Flaming on, and somebody in the military being trigger happy enough to shoot a NUCLEAR MISSILE at a target flying ABOVE US GROUND!

You just have to love Early Silver Age.

Still, from arrogant beginnings a legend was born. And who can deny the logic of his actions. It was the space race after all.

It all started because they wanted to be first to space before the Commies! How selfish Reed! And poor Ben, he may be permanently transformed but he is the toughest and strongest! Oh, and darn those cosmic rays for what they have done to our human race!Readiness!
